In the Spring 2009 semester our sisters volunteered at the Animal Haven in North Haven, CT, where they helped clean up the animal shelter and play with animals. A fun opportunity was our participation with the March Madness event, run by Hamden Youth Services, where the girls volunteered at the concession stand. Theta's helped support the local Hamden students along with the Hamden fire department and police department. We also teamed up with the Quinnipiac Physical Therapy club at the Special Athletics event. Thetas were buddies to excellent special needs competitors for a day, where they got to play games, dance, face paint, and make memorable arts and crafts. The girls loved touching the lives of others. Finally the ladies of Eta Xi made around 600 peanut butter and jelly sandwiches for the poor and distributed them to churches and soup kitchens in the Greater New Haven area.
