SPRING PHILANTHROPY EVENT
KICKS FOR CASA: Eta Xi holds an annual philanthropy event, Kicks for CASA, each spring. Members come together with the rest of the Quinnipiac community to form kickball teams and participate in an all-day kickball tournament bracket style. This spring, we held our third Kicks for CASA kickball event, and last year, we raised over $2,000 for the Kappa Alpha Theta Foundation, a partner of CASA!
CASA : Court Appointed Special Advocates

In 1989 Kappa Alpha Theta chose CASA
National Court Appointed Special Advocates was founded by a Seattle judge in 1977 who conceived the idea of using trained community volunteers to speak for the best interests of abused and neglected children in court. Today, the CASA organization has 50,000 volunteers who serve 225,000 children in over 900 local programs nationwide. Judges rely on the information these trusted advocates provide help to decide the future of children across the country.
Local CASA Chapter
A member of the National Court Appointed Special Advocate Association (CASA), Children In Placement - CT/CASA (CIP) is a private non-profit 501(c)(3) organization. Since 1979, Children in Placement has pursued its mission to facilitate judicial review of cases involving abused and neglected children so that each child in Connecticut realizes a safe and permanent home. Children in Placement also trains community volunteers to speak for abused and neglected children in the court system.
FALL PHILANTHROPY EVENT
CHARITY DENIM: The Eta Xi chapter of Kappa Alpha Theta held their first fall philanthropy event, Charity Denim, back in September. Charity Denim was an event that featured sale of various brands of designer jeans, including Seven For All Mankind, Joe’s Jeans, Hudson Jeans, True Religion, People’s Liberation, William Rast, Paper Denim & Cloth, James Jeans, and more. All jeans were discounted an estimated 40-70 percent off retail prices and were available in a variety of women’s and men’s sizes. We were able to sell nearly 200 pairs of jeans and raised over $1,500 for CASA - and we are proud to announce that Charity Denim will be Eta Xi's new (and annual!) fall philanthropy event!
KAPPA ALPHA THETA FOUNDATION
The Kappa Alpha Theta Foundation is a charitable and educational tax-exempt organization, separate and independent from the Fraternity, whose purpose is to link members with resources to help them reach their fullest potential and make a difference in the world. Created by Thetas, for Thetas, the Kappa Alpha Theta Foundation is dedicated to raising money for scholarships, educational and leadership grants, and financial hardship grants for our Kappa Alpha Theta members to achieve their personal and professional dreams.
The Eta Xi chapter of Kappa Alpha Theta is the only chapter on campus to hold two signature philanthropy events!
OTHER EVENTS
During the holiday season, we've sold candy grams, mistle toe, and hold bake sales in the student center. The profit is given to our local C.A.S.A chapter, Children in Placement, located in New Haven, CT, as well as the Kappa Alpha Theta Foundation.
