Academic support was the reason our four founders came together; the idea of women in college was not readily accepted in the 1870’s. Women needed the support of each other to reach their academic goals. Now, over 135 years later, Kappa Alpha Theta is still helping members to reach their scholastic goals.
Kappa Alpha Theta expects each member to achieve high scholarship and to develop to the fullest her intellectual, cultural, and social potential. Our Eta Xi chapter has the responsibility of setting our own expectations for scholarship. Members strive to reach a GPA of 2.75, and officers are encouraged to set an example with a GPA of 2.8.
If members ever need academic assistance, Theta is always there to provide support from peer mentors, chapter advisors and alumni.
In 2008, the Kappa Alpha Foundation awarded over $500,000 in scholarships to 200 graduate and undergraduate Thetas. Scholarships for outstanding Thetas are available each year through an application and selection process.
Since the Foundation was established in 1960, more than $5 million has been awarded to Theta collegians and alumnae pursuing their educational dreams. Generous gifts from individuals, college chapters, and alumnae chapters make the Foundation's scholarship program possible.
Kappa Alpha Theta is a leader in the Greek world in terms of dollar amounts and the number of scholarships awarded. |
