Danielle Dussault

As co-founder and member of the BAMF family (Beautiful And Magnificent Females, obviously), I pride myself on living life like a BAMF, even if college has come to an end. The real world can’t stop this! However, on a more serious note, at age 22, I really am living life to its fullest.

On May 17th, 2009, it was openly announced to Quinnipiac University’s graduating class that it was one of the worst times in the history of the U.S. to be a college graduate. Well if that isn’t reassuring, I don’t know what is! While in my last semester of school, I went on two “informational” interviews, to get my feet wet. And after being a job hunting failure, I decided to “Live the Dream” this summer. Obviously that consisted of doing whatever I wanted, and let me tell you, it was amazing. “I’m going to be working for the rest of my life,” I would tell my family, “just let me live!” Eventually they gave up on harassing me about future employment opportunities on the horizon. Finally, one sunny September afternoon, I received a phone call. MS&L Worldwide, an international public relations agency was interested in my resume. I was scheduled for an interview the following day in midtown Manhattan. To my surprise, the person leading my interview was a Theta at Vanderbilt! Not three hours after I had left my interview in the city, MS&L’s human resources department called me to offer me a “junior associate” position. Obviously, I accepted the position immediately.

Since I began my time here on the Media Team at MS&L, I have worked with incredible top tier clients such as: Best Buy, Crest (I’m sitting here with Crest 3D Whitestrips on as we speak – gotta keep that smile white) PUMA, Febreze, Nestle Crunch and Outback Steakhouse, to name a few. I’ve gotten to work with and meet editors at publications such as: Cosmopolitan, Life & Style, OK! Weekly, Allure, Glamour and Sports Illustrated. And to top it all off, I’ve had the pleasure of not only meeting, but working with celebs such as: Brooke Burke, Bon Jovi, Rihanna, Apolo Anton Ohno, Shawn Johnson, STING, and Tim McGraw.

Aside from meeting cool people and working on cool accounts, I have met a TON of amazing people who making coming to work that much easier.  And about 3 weeks ago, I was given a fantastic promotion. I think it’s safe to say things are going very well for me, currently.

Well, I guess that’s it for now. It’s about time to take our daily trip to Duane Reade. If you want to learn more about what I do, or just talk to me about what I’m up to, feel free to harass Daniela Stiso or my GL Heather Mourao for my personal contact info J

Howdy y’all! Greetings from Dallas, TX! After graduation in May ’09, I packed up my life, and said goodbye to the winters of the Northeast and hello to sunny weather, cowboy hats, and southern accents. I am currently living in Uptown Dallas and I am loving every minute of it. When I first moved to Dallas, I worked as a nurse on a neuro/cardiac telemetry floor; however, the experience was not what I had anticipated, and I have recently started working as an RN in the emergency department at Medical City Hospital of Dallas. The ER is a wild and crazy place, but everyday is something new and different, which keeps me on my toes and makes life interesting. Though I do deal with some heart-wrenching situations sometimes, it has taught me how truly precious life is and it has made me so incredibly appreciative of my life and the people in it. In addition to working as a nurse, I continue to represent Quinnipiac University by acting as an extension of the QU admissions office, participating in college fairs recruiting for the university. I have also recently joined the Dallas Young Thetas Alumnae group. The past 9 months have definitely been challenging, but with the love and support of my Theta family, and the morals and ideals of Kappa Alpha Theta, I am continually strengthened, and I am so thankful for this amazing experience.

“You have brains in your head. You have feet in your shoes. You can steer yourself any direction you choose. You're on your own, and you know what you know. And you will be the one who'll decide where you'll go. Oh the places you'll go.” – Dr. Suess Since my graduation in May 2009, I have embraced life post graduation and have come into my own as a working, traveling woman. I am currently a traveling Educational Leadership Consultant (ELC) for Kappa Alpha Theta. I have been working since July and have been traveling since August. I am exploring the United States and Canada week by week and have traveled to about 12 states since the start of my job. Being a traveling consultant has been an amazing and challenging experience and allows me to work with so many amazing people it’s truly indescribable. My visit schedules have involved recruitment, initiation preparation, elections and a few anytime visits. Each chapter has many different needs and it is important while visiting to make sure that as an ELC I am providing the chapter the tools and skills it needs to successfully develop. The beginning of the semester was filled with recruitment but as the semester winds down initiation and elections visits are coming up which is very exciting. A person can only hear so many recruitment songs before going just a little crazy.

So far this job has been a crazy adventure and I have enjoyed every minute of it. It is hard to believe that just 4 years ago I was starting my journey as a new member and now I am traveling from chapter to chapter helping their new members enjoy and understand how extraordinary Theta membership can be. I will never forget where I came from and I am so proud to say that I am an alumna of the Eta Xi chapter. My experiences as a collegian have no doubt shaped me as a person and are an influential factor in my success as a consultant. I have yet to get my visit schedule for next semester but follow myself and the rest of the consultants on the ELC Blog on the Kappa Alpha Theta website to see what we are up to!

I am living in Sunny California, West LA to be more specific, and have been working for the past month on my first Feature Film as 2nd AD (assistant director). It is a film by a famous Armenian director and has already been accepted to several prominent film festivals, so keep your eyes and ears open for Last Stop.

Just before that I worked as Production Manager on a short film about circus workers exacting revenge on their bullies. Since then, the director has taken me on as a sort of assistant, providing coverage for his scripts (as he is also a writer) and organizing pre-production on his upcoming films. When I first got out here, I worked for my second year for the Los Angeles Film Festival, where Wanted, Hellboy 2 and Journey to the Center of the Earth premiered. I got 6 friends from QU to come out and work with me as well. Last Stop has basically consumed my life out here most recently, but other than that I am enjoying the West Coast lifestyle- I even have visited the Theta houses at USC and UCLA just to reminisce. I also have been accepted to a new QU Graduate program in Interactive Communications. It is done through QU online, geared toward working professionals who still want to get their Masters.
